What do you enjoy most about your role at Gamma Solutions?
Having started in the service centre as a service admin I never imagined I’d work my way up to Marketing, so I’m mostly grateful for the opportunity I’ve been given. I really enjoy being able to set plans and strategies for marketing and the freedom to come up with new campaigns and use my creativity where possible. It’s also a highlight to organise events with partners because you never know where it can take you and the satisfaction after a successful event is like no other.
I also really enjoy working with our sales team. Each of them have their own unique ways and I’ve learnt so much from them and continue to learn every day. There’s never a day that I don’t pick up something new, whether industry related or just life skills. I also look forward to organising team building events which are always a highlight.
Finally the team at Gamma has become more like family than anything else over the almost decade I’ve been here. This is pretty clear with many of them making the decision to travel overseas to celebrate my upcoming wedding, which is something I’ll never forget.
What’s a hobby or activity you enjoy outside of work that might surprise your colleagues?
I think my colleagues know all my hobbies and activities by now, so I don’t know what would surprise them. I love my sports (rugby union, cricket, F1, swimming, athletics), wildlife photography and travel. If there’s something different it would be my mission work. I’m heavily involved with church, leading praise and worship and a couple of years ago I had the chance to go on mission to Uganda. That experience was life transforming to say the least.
If there’s one thing people may not know it’s that I live and breathe travel so much that I have a travel itinerary for almost every country in the world. From Afghanistan to Zimbabwe you name it, I’ve got an itinerary for you! I love putting itineraries together and planning surprise trips for family, so if anyone wants to know what’s good in a certain country please come see me! 😉 In fact I even created a full travel guide for Sri Lanka for all my wedding guests travelling from overseas. 😂
If you could have dinner with any three people, dead or alive, who would they be?
I thought hard about this but I’d have to copy some of my colleagues and say my grandparents. Specifically my grandfathers from both sides because I never had the chance to meet them. It would be interesting to see which of their qualities were passed down to my parents, who I’m most like and finally find out what it’s like to be spoilt by grandfathers.
What’s a recent book, podcast or show that you’d recommend and what did you learn from it?
I’m currently following a marriage prep course called Smart Loving. Even though it’s something I have to do as part of the marriage process for church I’ve actually been enjoying it. I’ve been learning a lot about family of origin and how it shapes the way we react and respond to situations. It helps us understand our partners more deeply. I’m only three chapters in with seven to go, so let’s see where it takes us! 😁
What’s one thing on your bucket list that you hope to accomplish one day?
First I’d like to travel to every continent in the world (North America, South America and Antarctica are still to go). After that I’d love to visit every single country in the world. One of my dreams is to combine mission work and photography with travel so that as a family we can explore the world while also making a difference.
